UNDERCOVER MUSIC #3: CONNORPARTY
Connor Devlin draws from a wide variety of music, as evident in him working on both an industrial techno project called Platonic Belt and his solo work under the CONNORPARTY alias. CONNORPARTY’s sole LP, Flying Colors, is a mix of art pop, indietronica, and slowcore which taps into a certain emotional angst which is delivered with a universal appeal. He manages to preserve his own personality and experiences despite making a genuine pop album, although the experimental elements definitely are here, and provide greater context to how Connor is able to manage both an industrial techno project and a foray into singer-songwriter music. Connor manages to blend all of the genres he’s drawn to in order to create a world of both overt emotion, and nuanced subtlety.
