Future Teachers Program Offers HS Seniors Teaching Jobs Right Out of College

Are you a senior interested in pursuing a career in teaching? Following the recent struggle to hire new teachers, The Future Teachers Program is a new recruitment initiative launched to guarantee teaching job offers upon college graduation. Program participants receive annual summer stipends, WCPSS job offers, and networking opportunities. They will participate in annual required summer training, meet all WCPSS licensure, and teach with WCPSS for at least three years.

 

Who is eligible to apply?

WCPSS graduating seniors who have/will gain admittance to a college/university in the fall 2022 semester can apply. Freshman and sophomore college students are also eligible if enrolled in an education program at one of the following colleges/universities: Meredith College, North Carolina State University, Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University, or William Peace University.

They must also intend to pursue teaching K-12 in one of the following areas:

  • Birth-Kindergarten
  • Career and Technical Education
  • Elementary Education 
  • English/Language Arts 
  • English Second Language 
  • Math 
  • Science
  • Social Studies 
  • Special Education 
  • World Languages

Applications are due at 5:00 p.m. on April 15, 2022.
