Dear readers of the Eagle’s Eye,
We need your help bringing print media back to Enloe.
The majority of people in the US say that print media is something they “used to [buy] but not anymore.” As of 2014, even The New York Times itself has seen a hit in its print circulation in favor of its digital circulation. Blame it on lowering attention spans, blame it on the economy, or blame it on a lazy society that favors convenience over all else, but one thing’s for sure, the loss of print media has hit Enloe.
In the 2010s, the Eagle’s Eye was a prominent piece of the culture at Enloe. Four times a year, students could get their hands on a printed edition, which compiled the best articles from the previous months to create a comprehensive guide to life from the perspective of an Eagle as of late. Every April Fools Day, the all-satire special edition created a tradition in our community to look forward to. But come 2020, COVID rendered physical editions of the Eagle’s Eye obsolete, and generally, school publications were moving online. The Eagle’s Eye has not printed a physical edition since.
Indy Weekly doesn’t cover the spring musical or last night’s soccer game, but the Eagle’s Eye does; suddenly, something you are a part of, maybe even an article you’re in, is in the news. Holding a professionally printed piece of writing about your community creates a sense of pride that every student deserves to feel. Students’ voices have always been a powerful force in local culture. No one can relate to the perspective of a high school student like high school publications, no other publications have as unique of an outlook, niche of an audience, and valuable of an opinion.
The Eagle’s Eye needs your help to bring a sense of importance back to the readers of our publication. It is our goal to reintroduce the first physical edition of the Eagle’s Eye paper in 2024, but we can’t do it without you. If you have anything to spare for student media, we ask you to consider donating to our cause here.
We thank you for your time, generosity, and readership.
Sincerely,
The Eagle’s Eye
