Local Artist, School Sponsor: Wind Ensemble Commissions Music
The Enloe Wind Ensemble has facilitated the work of Greensboro composer Nathan Daughtrey. Mr. Daughtrey will write a contemporary classical piece, and then the Wind Ensemble will perform it in the spring, but for Mr. Hunter, it’s more than just a spectator sport. Mr. Hunter wants his class to see the gears turning inside Mr. Daughtrey’s mind. Mr. Hunter said, “Not all composers are dead—people continue to compose, and I want the students to have a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on behind the compositional process.” Wind Ensemble students will be eyestanders, not bystanders. Already, the class has had a skype call with Mr. Daughtrey, where they were introduced to him and given an overview of this project. Good luck to our Wind Ensemble friends, and make sure to see them perform this music in the Spring!
Your donation will support the student journalists of Enloe Magnet High School, allowing us to cover our annual website costs. We are extremely grateful for any contribution, big or small!
