On Saturday, May 16, Enloe’s National Art Honors Society (NAHS) will host their annual Art Market and Senior Showcase from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Enloe West Gym Lobby and cafeteria.
This event was first held last year to highlight the artwork of seniors in the Enloe arts community, allowing them to showcase their original work to their loved ones, teachers, and peers. This year, the Senior Showcase will happen alongside the Art Market, an opportunity for any Enloe student to sell their work.
The arts department is striving to make the joint event even bigger and more established than before, with more artists participating and work displayed. It is fully free and open to the public to attend!
“When people come and see [the students’] work, they’re so inspired and just in awe of the talent that students have here, and it’s nice to see that on their faces and see all that hard work pay off,” said Ms. Mann, visual arts teacher at Enloe and supervisor of NAHS. “My favorite part is seeing what students have created over their four years at Enloe and really honoring them as artists and seeing how they get to interact with their peers, families, and the public.”
Like NAHS as an organization, this event is almost completely student-led and organized. In addition to all the showcased artists being Enloe students, the logistics, publicity, setup, and cleanup are handled by NAHS members. One of these members is senior Izzy Wisenbaker, NAHS Chair of Murals and part of the brains behind the event.
“[Enloe art students] just interact within classes, but a lot of students aren’t taking art classes and make a lot of art outside of school, and I think it’s also important for them to be part of the community,” said Wisenbaker.
“I think it’s also important to come to see what the seniors have made,” Wisenbaker added. “We have a really high art level at Enloe; some of it is college level, so I think that it’ll be a great experience. If you come, you won’t regret it.”
The Enloe visual arts community is eager to show their work to the community, so make sure to come out and support them on Saturday, May 16!
If you are interested in participating in either of the events, sign up here by May 13th!
